German sponsors are allowed to deduct amounts given to this charity from their taxable income (in order with tax number 71-608/09730 Finanzamt Bremen). All bookkeeping is beeing yearly checked by the local income tax office at Bremen, and this provides transparency in the functioning of the charity. Among other activities of health care the charity supports free vaccination camps for children in the lower income areas of Mumbai (Bombay), Thane and Goa (Vasco da Gama area) in cooperation with local organisations and doctors.

During these camps, children are voluntarily brought by their parents to be administered free vaccinations. Usually one or two German charity members (which are not physicians) are present during the camps, but they do not examine any patients, neither dispense nor prescribe any medications.

Vaccinations are undertaken by local physicians who are fully-registered and licensed-to-practice by the Medical Council of India. In some cases in Mumbai and also in Goa, the local authorities of the health office came for checking and were satisfied by the arrangements made.

Vaccines are bought from local distributors, meaning there is no need for the import of medicines.

All vaccines and material needed is beeing paid from amounts donated by German sponsors.

German charity members undertake their work in India voluntarily, and without any monetary compensation. They visit India are not beeing paid for their and they come during their annual holiday, and opt to work for part of their holiday for the charity.

Some Indian doctors and assistants are beeing paid for their work, while others have offered to work without payment.

This charity does not have any religious or political affiliation, and works for all regardless of such considerations. Our intentions are purely humanitarian. Nothing is beeing done to change the way of life, the religion or the political grouping people may belong to. Every child, aged between approximately one year to 18 years is brought in by the parents.

Vaccination cards for each child to be kept by the parents and lists of those vaccinated are duly maintained. As far as possible, each child vaccinated is usually given a toy. This small token is an incentive to convince children about the desirability of vaccinations, otherwise considered to be a painful process by young ones in any part of the world. Usually the toys are a teddy, doll or soft-toy which has been donated by German schoolchildren and is transported to India.

Free vaccinations are beeing given against MMR (Mumps-Measles-Rubella), DPT (Diphteria - Pertussis -Tetanus), Rubella, Measles, Tetanus, Polio (if considered to be still necessary by local medical authorities), or Hepatitis B.

During fourteen years more then 249 000 (twohundredandfourtyninethousand) children have been vaccinated. Lists of all children vaccinated, showing their names and addresses, are available, both with the local doctor and in Germany. We intend to continue our program in October 2007 in Mumbai, Thane, around Nadiad (Gujarat) and close to Vasco da Gama / Goa.

We´ll try now to include also protection against typhus for children and youngsters.

Our work partly is being carried out in association with a local charity:
